About Budhi Ghori Laal Lagam

Jahangir (Salman Shahid) has spent decades building his life around his children, Ayesha (Sarwat Gillani) and Kareem (Ahsan Khan). Now that they are independent, the man in his sixties is finally ready to make room for himself. Alongside his wife, Zubi (Simi Raheal), he begins chasing small freedoms, spontaneous pleasures, and the kind of joy their family thinks should have expired with youth. Their playful rebellion unsettles the children and invites the judgment of a society quick to police how older people dress, behave, and love.

When the sudden loss of Jahangir's friend Arshu (Behroze Sabzwari) makes mortality impossible to ignore, that carefree experiment gains new urgency. Written and directed by Sheheryar Munawar, Budhi Ghori Laal Lagam turns a late-life awakening into a warm family comedy about grief, companionship, and the courage to choose fulfillment. Its central question is simple but quietly radical: after a lifetime spent caring for everyone else, are Jahangir and Zubi allowed to live for themselves?

Editor’s Take

Salman Shahid and Simi Raheal give this late-life rebellion its spark, trading lived-in tenderness for comic mischief while Sheheryar Munawar lets Karachi glow around them. We love how an Eid telefilm about ageing dodges the usual young-romance machinery. Our one gripe? The children's disapproval can feel a little too neatly arranged to deliver the lesson. Still, its heart is in exactly the right place: growing older should never mean shrinking your life.
