About Damsa

Damsa follows Areeja (Nadia Jamil), a strong-willed nurse whose ordinary family life is shattered when her teenage daughter Damsa (Emaan Shaikh) is abducted by a child-trafficking and forced-begging network. Her husband Musa (Shahood Alvi) is caught in the upheaval, while conservative relatives offer less support than she desperately needs. Refusing to let the case disappear, Areeja begins a determined search that brings her up against Rehman (Saleem Mairaj), the ruthless figure behind the kidnapping ring. She finds crucial allies in her mother Abro (Ismat Zaidi) and principled journalist Ahsan (Khalid Malik), even as the crisis exposes painful fractures within the family. Written by Asma Nabeel, the serial turns a mother's fight for her child into a tense look at trafficking, forced begging, and the systems that allow vulnerable children to vanish in plain sight. It is an emotionally heavy premise, but Areeja's resolve gives the story its pulse and its hope.

We admire how Asma Nabeel's script keeps child trafficking and forced begging in focus without turning them into decorative shock. Our one gripe? The relentless grimness leaves the story precious little room to breathe. Still, this is difficult television with a clear conscience and a reason to exist.
