About Doraha

At the centre of Doraha is a quiet collision between affection, class and family expectation. Shahla (Sanam Baloch) has loved her older cousin Umer (Humayun Saeed) for years, even as he treats her like a younger sister. Umer's heart belongs to his university classmate Sara (Sonia Rehman), whose more comfortable upbringing makes their marriage an immediate target for resistance. When Sara enters Umer's middle-class household, his mother (Badar Khalil) resents the daughter-in-law who displaced her preferred match and turns daily domestic life into a test of patience and belonging. Shahla remains close enough to keep old hopes alive, while Sara tries to adjust, protect her dignity and imagine a life beyond household duty. Written by Umera Ahmad and directed by Mehreen Jabbar, this compact romantic drama turns a familiar triangle into a sharp study of how love can be distorted by pride, dependence and the fear of disappointing family.

Humayun Saeed makes Umer's weakness maddeningly believable, turning every compromise into another crack in the household. The emotional grip is real, and Umera Ahmad's domestic conflicts give Mehreen Jabbar plenty of tense, intimate material to shape. Our one gripe? Sara absorbs so much misery that the 14-episode run can sometimes feel like an endurance test. Still, Doraha knows exactly where to press. This is old-school family melodrama with a pulse.
