About Ghayal

Ghayal opens in a house full of daughters, where Tooba (Sumbul Iqbal) is the middle sister and her family has quietly adopted their friend's son Adil (Gohar Mumtaz) as the boy they never had. A wedding is being planned, relatives are arriving from America, and the household hums with the ordinary noise of Tooba and her sister Tania (Shehzeen Rahat) teasing each other. Then Moiz (Asad Siddiqui) decides he wants Tooba, and his ego will not accept any answer but yes. What he does to get her is not love, and he does not stop once it is done. The fallout costs Tooba the engagement she was counting on, and the question the serial keeps asking is whether a woman handed that much misfortune can still find her way to happiness. Writer Shagufta Bhatti and director Furqan T Siddiqui put the real story in the aftermath.

Editor’s Take

The sisters are the reason this works: their nokjhok lands like an actual household, not a writers' room approximation, and putting Abid Ali and Talat Hussain in the elders' chairs gives the family real gravity. Asad Siddiqui, too, is visibly better here than in his early work, which matters when the whole serial hangs on how repellent Moiz can be. Our gripe? It opens on violence against a woman and never quite earns that jolt. "Rangreza Mere" will follow you home anyway.
