About Hijr

Raised in a household where money and family obligation narrow every choice, Sabuhi (Hina Altaf) refuses to surrender her dream of becoming a doctor. She escapes an oppressive engagement and builds a life with the educated, supportive Zamir (Imran Abbas), whose belief in her helps turn ambition into a surgical career. Success, however, changes the balance at home. Long hours and professional pressure pull Sabuhi away from the people who carried her there, while pride, insecurity and betrayal test a marriage once built on mutual respect. Written by Zanjabeel Asim Shah, Hijr treats separation as more than romantic distance: it asks what achievement costs when love, parenting and old class wounds are all demanding attention. With a large family ensemble around its central couple, the serial is a thoughtful domestic drama about aspiration, sacrifice and the difficult work of rediscovering the bonds ambition can strain.

Hina Altaf and Imran Abbas give Hijr its best quality: a mature, lived-in push and pull that lets affection and resentment occupy the same room. We especially like how Zanjabeel Asim Shah gives Sabuhi's ambition real weight instead of treating it as a convenient obstacle. Our gripe? The heightened villainy sometimes crowds out the subtler, richer questions about marriage and a blended family. Still, this is thoughtful domestic drama with more emotional texture than its familiar setup suggests.
