About Jalaibee
Yasir Jaswal's Jalaibee spins a sleek crime caper around Billu (Danish Taimoor) and Bugga (Ali Safina), two orphaned friends and small-time crooks whose botched robbery leaves them owing a crushing debt to The Unit, a feared local mafia network. As they scramble for a way out, their troubles collide with Ali (Wiqar Ali Khan) and Jimmy (Uzair Jaswal), brothers pursuing a deeply personal score against the same criminal empire. Eman (Sabeeka Imam), the daughter of an ambitious politician, holds information that could shift the balance, while Dara (Adnan Jaffar), the mafia's steely front man, works to keep the city under control. Banno (Zhalay Sarhadi) adds another unpredictable thread to a knot of revenge, greed and desperation. Set across a shadowy urban Pakistan of back rooms, speeding cars and divided loyalties, the film keeps twisting these lives together until every bargain carries a dangerous price. Mo Azmi's gleaming, shadow-soaked cinematography gives Jalaibee real big-screen swagger, and Ali Safina's comic timing cuts cleanly through the gun smoke. We especially love how the animation and live action make its urban underworld feel like a graphic novel in motion. Our gripe? The climactic stretch drags, and some predictable turns blunt the film's promised twists. Still, this is a brash, pulpy swing with enough visual nerve to leave a sweet aftertaste.
