About Jo Bichar Gaye

Set in Dhaka as the 1971 crisis pushes East and West Pakistan toward rupture, Jo Bichar Gaye follows three lives caught between history and survival. Rumi (Wahaj Ali), an idealistic young Bengali, is drawn into a political struggle whose leaders know how to turn anger into a weapon. Sonia (Maya Ali) watches loyalties harden around her, while Captain Farrukh (Talha Chahour), a West Pakistani officer stationed in the city, confronts a conflict that is becoming impossible to contain. Their personal bonds unfold against street unrest, military calculation and the fear spreading through ordinary homes.

Adapted by Ali Moeen from Col Z. I. Farrukh's firsthand book, the 14-episode serial treats the fall of Dhaka as lived experience rather than a distant history lesson. Haissam Hussain's period canvas keeps the politics grounded in people, with Nadia Jameel and the ensemble giving warmth and urgency to a story about manipulation, divided loyalties and the human cost of a nation breaking apart.

Editor’s Take

Haissam Hussain gives Jo Bichar Gaye the texture of remembered history: tense rooms, uneasy silences and characters who never feel like pieces on a political chessboard. Wahaj Ali, Maya Ali and Talha Chahour make the human stakes sting, while Ali Moeen's script keeps military and personal conflict in unusually sharp balance. Our one gripe? Its layered political context demands close attention before every thread clicks into place. Still, this is bold, bruising television that deserved far more attention than it received.
