About Jungle

Jungle enters rural Sindh, where Bahawal Khan (Mehmood Siddiqui), a powerful landowner with three wives, treats family, land, and women's futures as extensions of his authority. The inheritance he means to protect breeds rivalry across generations. His son Mehran Khan (Mansoor Baloch) grows into a harsher image of that order, while Popri (Neelma Hasan), Sikandar (Ismael Shah), Mehtab (Sakina Samo), Sarang (Usman Peerzada), and Sawan (Shafi Muhammad Shah) are pulled into a household divided by greed, marriage customs, and resistance to oppression.

Written by Noor ul Huda Shah, this PTV classic turns one family's battles into a critique of feudal power. Its sharpest focus is on women whose lives and inheritances are controlled in the name of custom, including the cruel practice of marrying women to the Quran to keep property intact. It is a serious, socially charged drama about what power passes down, and who pays for it.

Editor’s Take

Noor ul Huda Shah gives Jungle a rare moral force: feudal custom is not background colour here, it is a machine that controls land, marriage, and women's lives. Our one hurdle? The sprawling family tree asks for patience while its rivalries take shape. Yet the drama's anger stays beautifully clear. Shah later recalled that one viewer helped a woman in his family escape a forced life after watching it. Few television legacies land harder than that.
