About Kahan Ho Tum
Noor Jahan (Sumbul Iqbal) grows up with her mother Salma Jahan (Shaista Jabeen) in Lahore's Shahi Mohallah. Other people see the neighbourhood and Salma's work in the sex trade before they see Noor herself. Noor wants to do well in her studies, support her mother and make a life on her own terms. She falls for fellow student Zaviyar Ali (Affan Waheed), but their relationship must contend with the stigma attached to her family.
Written by Sabika Zainab and directed by Zulfiqar Haider, Kahan Ho Tum puts Noor's ambitions at the heart of its romance. Her hopes reach beyond leaving a neighbourhood: she wants the freedom to be judged for her own choices. As affection and social prejudice meet, the question is whether she can hold on to her education, her family and the future she has worked toward.
Editor’s Take
Noor's determination to study her way out of Shahi Mohallah gives this romance a sharper stake than simply finding the right man. We like that her mother's hopes matter just as much as Zaviyar's attention. Our reservation is the familiar feel of the male lead: Reviewit singled out Affan Waheed's similar delivery across his 2018 dramas, including this one. The real pull is Noor's refusal to let other people's judgement define her.
