About Koji

In a Karachi settlement where begging is a profession and beauty determines who receives even a stranger's coin, Koji (Jinaan Hussain) lives under a name that means "ugly." A facial mark makes her the target of ridicule, yet the cruelty around her has not stripped away her dignity or her longing to be seen as more than an appearance. Her world shifts when Jhalla (Paras Masroor), an eccentric outsider fascinated by electronic gadgets, offers the tenderness everyone else withholds. Their unlikely connection unsettles a community built on judgment, exposing the gulf between public morality and private behavior. Written by Saji Gull and directed by Tariq Siddiqui, Koji turns a love story into a pointed look at prejudice, self-respect and the healing force of compassion. Its slum setting and distinctive dialect give the telefilm a raw texture, while the central pair keep its social argument rooted in two wounded people reaching for acceptance.

Editor’s Take

The dialect and dusty slum setting give Koji a lived-in sting, but Jinaan Hussain and Paras Masroor supply its pulse. Their tender connection turns Saji Gull's social critique into something warmer than a sermon, and the film's faith in dignity genuinely lands. Our one gripe? The beauty-is-more-than-skin-deep symbolism can press its point a little too firmly. Still, this is dark, compassionate television that looks past appearances and asks viewers to do the same.
