Makafaat is an anthology built around a simple warning: actions have consequences. Writers Sameena Aijaz, Huma Hina Nafees, Ghazala Naqvi and Mehrunnisa M. Khan turn the idea of makafaat-e-amal, the return of one's deeds, into compact dramas where accountability arrives within everyday life rather than as an abstract lesson. Some tales focus on exploited victims, others on culprits convinced that status or secrecy will shield them. Makafaat works best when its short-story format catches a recognizable social cruelty and lets the consequence snap shut. We like the rotating ensemble, especially the authority Saba Faisal and Saba Hameed bring to these compact moral worlds. Our one gripe? The moral geometry can become too blunt, with villains slipping into caricature and payoffs growing predictable. Still, when an episode finds a real pressure point, this anthology delivers a sharp little jolt of conscience.
