About Mere Bewafa
Azra (Sarah Khan) gives her marriage everything, and Mere Bewafa is the story of what that devotion costs her. Her husband Shahmeer (Aagha Ali) offers her neither loyalty nor sincerity, and his betrayal cuts deeper than an ordinary affair: the other woman is Azra's own childhood friend Mona (Zhalay Sarhadi), whom he secretly marries. At home Azra must also bear the harsh treatment of her in-laws, yet she keeps fighting to win back a husband who seems set on breaking her.
Written by Zanjabeel Asim Shah and directed by Sakina Samo, the serial ran for 24 episodes on A Plus in 2018 in a Wednesday night slot, with Shagufta Ejaz, Hassan Noman, Madiha Rizvi and Sabiha Hashmi in support and an OST sung by Aagha Ali himself with Aima Baig. It is a tense, tearful study of betrayal and mistrust inside a marriage, anchored by a heroine whose patience will frustrate and move you in equal measure.
Editor’s Take
Sarah Khan and Aagha Ali became a genuine hit pairing here, which is quite a trick when the story is anything but a romance: their scenes crackle with hurt, and you keep coming back for more. Our one gripe? Shahmeer is written without a single redeeming note, so Azra's endless campaign to win him back starts to test your patience, and the final episode settles twenty-odd weeks of cruelty in a hurry it never earns. Stay for the leads, not the landing.
