About Mr. Wrong

Mr. Wrong, the Urdu1 dubbing of the hit Turkish romantic comedy Bay Yanlis, is a breezy love story about two people who want opposite things. Ezgi (Ozge Gurel) is worn out by a string of bad relationships and determined to finally do love the right way: a proper courtship, a wedding, the whole plan. Asghar (Can Yaman), the charming, commitment-phobic restaurateur who moves in next door, believes in fun and freedom and nothing more. Watching Ezgi stumble through her romantic misadventures, he offers to coach her, handing over a playbook of tactics to land the man she thinks she wants. Of course, the closer these two grow as scheming partners, the harder it becomes to keep their own feelings out of the lesson plan. Directed by Deniz Yorulmazer and written by Asli Zengin and Banu Zengin, it is glossy, flirty, wish-fulfilment escapism.

Editor’s Take

The reason to watch is chemistry, plain and simple. Can Yaman and Ozge Gurel spark off each other so easily that the flirty-mentor setup never plays like a gimmick, it plays like a slow-motion inevitability you happily wait out. Our gripe? The original ran just fourteen episodes, and you can feel the writers scrambling to tie bows in the final stretch, shortchanging a couple of side stories. Come for the charm, forgive the rushed landing.
