About SharPasand

SharPasand turns a close-knit Karachi neighbourhood into a pressure cooker of gossip, control and wounded pride. At its centre is Farasat (Naumaan Ijaz), a meddling moralist whose respectable facade hides a talent for manipulation. When married couple Sanam (Hareem Farooq) and Fida (Affan Waheed) move nearby, Farasat quickly spots Fida's insecurities and begins needling his way into their relationship. Sanam sees through him, as does Shazmain (Hira Mani), an independent widow whose reputation becomes another target for his whisper campaign. Around them, Farasat's wife Ruby (Nadia Afgan), their children and several interconnected households become caught in a web of alliances, rumours and romantic complications. The serial uses its crowded mohalla to examine how easily suspicion can pass for concern, especially when women's choices are policed by the people around them. The result is a tense social drama powered by sharp performances and the uneasy feeling that one neighbour's interference can unsettle an entire street.

Editor’s Take

Naumaan Ijaz makes Farasat maddeningly watchable, turning every pious smile and neighbourly intrusion into a small act of menace. We also loved how Hareem Farooq and Hira Mani give the mohalla's women distinct steel instead of reducing them to easy victims. Our one gripe? At 52 episodes, the plotting circles the same suspicions too often, and a few turns strain belief. Still, the ensemble keeps this tangled street alive. Come for the schemer, stay for the women who see through him.
