About Sultanat

In Sultanat, power inside a family becomes a weapon. Shahnawaz (Humayun Ashraf), the household's manipulative eldest son-in-law, presents himself as its protector while tightening control through deceit and exploitation. His influence reaches every relationship, suppressing the daughters' ambitions and turning trust into leverage. At the centre is Maham (Maha Hasan), caught in the pressure of his dominance yet carrying the emotional fight against it. As loyalties shift, parents and siblings must confront how easily authority can disguise itself as care.

Written by Noor Ul Huda Shah and directed by Shah Hussain, this 40-episode HUM TV serial builds its drama around family politics rather than grand spectacle. Humayun Ashraf gives Shahnawaz an unsettling command, while Maha Hasan brings vulnerability and resolve to Maham. Sultanat is a tense watch for viewers who enjoy domestic dramas about control, betrayal, and the difficult work of reclaiming a voice inside one's own home.

Editor’s Take

Humayun Ashraf gives Shahnawaz the sort of smiling menace that makes every family scene feel slightly airless, while Maha Hasan's vulnerability keeps the power struggle emotionally legible. We also admire how Noor Ul Huda Shah turns the language of protection into a tool of control. Our gripe is the landing: viewers were right to feel that the finale rushes crucial consequences and leaves its emotional promises underfed. Potent domestic melodrama, frustrating final aftertaste.
