About Uroosa

Adapted by Fatima Surayya Bajia from Zubaida Khatoon's novel, Uroosa turns a broken household into absorbing television. Tofique (Shakeel), a successful barrister, is devoted to his sisters but fails his wife, Anjum (Ghazala Kaifee). Their marriage collapses while their daughter, Uroosa (Mishi Khan), is an infant, leaving her to grow up apart from her father and inherit emotional consequences she never chose. When their paths cross again, old resentments and the family's rigid loyalties begin to shift. Tofique's later marriage to an educated woman brings fresh strain, especially as his sisters resist her place in the home, while Shehryar (Adnan Siddiqui) adds a younger emotional thread. Rooted in the pressure of kinship, reputation, and parental duty, this 1994 PTV serial asks whether a family can repair the damage caused by pride. It is classic domestic drama with a sharp eye for the adults who make decisions and the children who must live with them.

Editor’s Take

Fatima Surayya Bajia's adaptation makes every drawing-room courtesy feel loaded. Shakeel and Ghazala Kaifee give the older conflict its bruised weight, while Mishi Khan and Adnan Siddiqui bring the freshness that helped make Uroosa a remembered 1990s favorite. Our one gripe? Its moral lines can feel firmly old-school, with family pressure doing a little too much narrative heavy lifting. Still, the mix of seasoned authority and debutant spark has real pull. This is classic PTV melodrama with a heartbeat.
