About WARIS

In Sikandarpur, Chaudhry Hashmat Khan (Mehboob Alam) rules his village and sprawling estate with the certainty of a man who expects bloodlines, land and loyalty to obey him. A government dam threatens that grip, but the danger inside his haveli is just as potent. His son Yaqub (Munawwar Saeed) maneuvers over inheritance and marriage, while grandsons Anwar Ali (Firdous Jamal) and Niaz Ali (Aurangzeb Leghari) embody rival visions of the family's future. Beyond them, a guard (Abid Ali) carries a private search for justice, and an overlooked daughter-in-law (Uzma Gillani) complicates the accepted line of succession.

Written by Amjad Islam Amjad, Waris uses one feudal dynasty to examine class, industrial change and the cruel bargains made in the name of legacy.
