About Yaar E Bewafa

Yaar-e-Bewafa asks a quietly brutal question: is it sensible to chase the happiness you might have tomorrow while trampling the happiness you already own? Zaid (Imran Abbas) is a salaried man raised by a widowed mother who scraped his education together after his father's death, and the girl from money he married at university was cut off by her own parents the day she chose him. Across the city, Saleem (Saleem Mairaj), a short-tempered chemical factory worker, watches his life cave in when a lung cancer diagnosis arrives, leaving his wife Amna (Sarah Khan) holding a household together with nothing coming in. Fiza (Areej Fatima) is the one whose decisions set the real conflict in motion. Mohsin Ali walks two ordinary families toward the same crossroads, and Zeeshan Ahmed directs it small, plain and painfully close to home.

Pakistani TV almost never lets a marriage just be tender, so watching Imran Abbas and Sarah Khan play warmth instead of warfare is the quiet thrill here, and Sarah Khan going bare-faced for Amna tells you how seriously she took the part. Areej Fatima, handed every bad decision in the script, is superb. Our one gripe? Watched weekly the pace crawls. Binge it instead: proof that a small, plainly told story still lands.
