About Yeh Mera Deewanapan Hai
Jahangeer (Junaid Khan) grows up in a troubled household, watching his father, Dr. Nafees (Javed Sheikh), belittle his mother, Atiya (Irsa Ghazal), for failing to meet his ideas of beauty. Mehtab (Saima Noor), a divorced nurse working at his father's clinic, becomes the focus of a childhood fascination that deepens as he reaches adulthood. She is considerably older than him, and his feelings complicate an already unhappy family.
Written by Zanjabeel Asim Shah and directed by Shahzad Rafique, this A Plus serial follows an unconventional attachment against a backdrop of controlling relatives, wounded pride and the pressure to conform. Jahangeer's longing for Mehtab grows out of a world where appearances receive more care than people's feelings. Their age difference brings another layer of tension to a story about affection, obsession and the difficult example of love passed from parents to children.
Editor’s Take
We like Mehtab best when she challenges the household's worship of beauty: Saima Noor's character brings a welcome flash of defiance to all that domestic cruelty. Our gripe is the surrounding melodrama, where scheming relatives crowd the romance and sudden changes of heart make hard conflicts look too easily solved. The unconventional pairing deserves breathing room. Come for Mehtab's backbone, and be prepared for a family that rarely turns down the volume.
