Sona Chandi

The Story Behind Sona Chandi

Sona Chandi brings Asim Azhar's songwriting to Velo Sound Station in a bright, dance-oriented pop performance. Released on the platform's official YouTube channel on 30 December 2022, it was presented as a musical welcome to the new year. Although it appeared after the show's debut run, Bilal Maqsood told Instep that the track belonged to its first season. Azhar had written and composed it before approaching Maqsood with a rough version. Haroon Sheikh and Usman Sheikh developed the production under Maqsood's supervision as executive producer.

The buoyant beat and sing-along chorus give the performance its celebratory character, with Azhar's voice at the centre of Velo's colourful stage presentation. It is a compact showcase for his own material, built around the direct appeal of a pop hook.
