Bhangi

The Story Behind Bhangi

Bhangi is Rizwan Butt's original song from Nescafé Basement Season 3, with words by Butt and production led by Xulfi. It belongs to a season that paired new songwriting with ambitious covers, giving emerging musicians room to build a sound together. In a July 2015 interview, Xulfi singled out Bhangi alongside Sajna and Out of My Mind when discussing the audience's response to the season's originals.

The recording's rock and qawwali identity fits that open approach. The production team's SoundCloud release dates to March 2015, while the official YouTube performance on this page was uploaded in November 2018. The official video runs seven minutes and forty-six seconds; the compilation lists a six-minute-forty-six-second audio track.
