Sibte Hassan composed Bhool Jaa Ay Dil, co-wrote its words, and then sang it himself, which puts one man behind the melody, the language and the lead vocal. It is the title track of the HUM TV daily serial that began airing on 16 November 2020 in the weeknight seven o'clock slot, and Hassan hands the second voice to Nirmal Roy, who had already sung on Coke Studio's ninth and tenth seasons. Mubashir Hassan shares the lyric credit, Amir Azhar plays the strings and engineered the session, and Naqi Ali handled the programming.

The serial it opens was written by Rizwana Prince and directed by Hisham Syed for Momina Duraid Productions, following a tight circle of friends in which one man's affection for the woman Momina Iqbal plays curdles into possessiveness. The cut published alongside the drama runs two minutes; the full release is more than twice as long.

Meaning & Translation

The title is an order, and it is addressed inward. Ay dil is the old Urdu vocative for one's own heart, a habit the ghazal tradition never gave up, treating the heart as a separate and famously disobedient companion. Bhool jaa is the blunt imperative that follows: forget. Put together, the phrase is somebody instructing their own heart to give up what it wants, which is exactly the bind the serial is built on, where wanting a person who is already spoken for drives everything. Splitting that instruction between two voices turns it from resolve into negotiation, and that is the honest reading: an order you have to keep repeating is one that has not been obeyed.
