The Story Behind Chauraha OST
Shani Arshad composed the theme for Chauraha and then sang it himself, in a duet with Aima Baig. Har Pal Geo posted it on 27 May 2022, four days before the 7th Sky Entertainment serial premiered, and it carried the show through 34 episodes to the October finale. Sabir Zafar's words fit the subject exactly: Aehsun Talish's drama follows a college student who invents a wealthier life on social media and walks into a kidnapper's trap, so a title song about losing your bearings does real narrative work. The track is often listed under its refrain, Main Na Janoon, rather than the show's name. What keeps it from wearing out is that the hook never resolves. The refrain returns to the same question instead of answering it, which is exactly where the drama leaves its heroine. A lyrical version followed on 20 June 2022.
Meaning & Translation
Chauraha is the Urdu word for a crossroads, the four-way junction where roads meet and a traveller has to pick one. Sabir Zafar's lyric lives inside that image. The refrain asks kyun hai manzil laapata, why has the destination gone missing, and then main na janoon kya mujh se hui hai khata, I do not know what wrong I have done. That pairing is the whole song: not a love complaint but a plea for bearings, sung by someone who cannot tell which turn cost them the road. For a drama about a girl who invents a second self online, the confusion is the point, and the theme never lets her off it.
