The Story Behind Ala Baali
Ala Baali brought Nirmal Roy and Jabar Abbas together for Episode 4 of Coke Studio Pakistan's ninth season in 2016. Written by Shakeel Sohail, composed and music-directed by Shiraz Uppal, and produced by Strings, the multilingual love song moves among Arabic, Urdu, and Punjabi.
Uppal builds the arrangement on a firm bass line, quick percussion, and Arabic and Persian rhythmic colors.
