The Story Behind I'm in Love
I'm in Love is Saba and Selina's English-language cover of Neil Diamond's I'm a Believer, performed for Coke Studio Pakistan's first season in 2008. Produced by Rohail Hyatt, it appeared in the season's second episode on 29 June, alongside songs by Strings. The composition had already become a pop standard through the Monkees' 1966 recording.
The duet brings that international songbook into the same season that featured Ali Azmat and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Its hook rests on a repeated declaration of love, with the chorus answering the uncertainty of the verses. Saba and Selina carry the lead billing together, giving the familiar song a place within Coke Studio's opening collection of performances. The December 2010 date on Hyatt's archive upload belongs to the video release; the session itself comes from 2008.
Meaning & Translation
The title is a direct declaration of being in love. The song follows someone who has come to associate romance with disappointment, only to have an encounter overturn that expectation. Belief here means trusting that love can be real and personally possible. The refrain captures the moment when guarded scepticism gives way to certainty. Repetition makes that change feel emphatic: the speaker keeps returning to the same assurance because it still feels like a discovery. In this English-language performance, the meaning lies in that emotional reversal, from expecting affection to fail to embracing it wholeheartedly.
