The Story Behind Keh Dia Alvida
Keh Dia Alvida is the soundtrack HUM TV released on 7 April 2026 for Sirf Shabana, two weeks after its 24 March premiere. Composer Naveed Nashad sings it as a duet with Beena Khan, setting words by Qamar Nashad, his regular lyricist.
Sirf Shabana, written by Sanam Mehdi Zaryab and directed by Aabis Raza for Moomal Productions and MD Productions, took HUM's Monday and Tuesday 8 PM slot. Sohai Ali Abro plays Shabana, an educated young woman who wants to be known by her own name rather than as someone's daughter or wife. Adeel Hussain and Durab Khalil co-star.
HUM's upload frames it in one line: "The emotions are deeper, the goodbye is harder." Naveed Nashad has used this format on HUM before, in Tu Ishq Hai and Rabba Mainu Maaf Kareen: the composer singing his own melody opposite a female voice, here in two minutes and thirty-five seconds.
Meaning & Translation
Keh dia alvida, also spelled keh diya alvida, means "said goodbye". Alvida is the everyday Urdu word for farewell, borrowed from Arabic, and keh dena, literally "to say and give", is how Urdu marks something said outright and finished. The title therefore reports a goodbye already spoken, not one still being pleaded over or held back.
It also drops its subject, so it can mean "I said goodbye" or "you said goodbye" and never settles which, an openness that suits a song shared by two voices. The drama's name is simpler: sirf means only, so Sirf Shabana is "only Shabana", or more loosely, "just Shabana".
