The Story Behind Yeh Ishq

Yeh Ishq is the title song of Laadli, the HUM TV serial that ran daily through the autumn of 2025, composed and sung by Ahmed Jahanzeb. Zaheer Zarf wrote the words. HUM released the track on 16 August 2025, a few weeks into a run that opened on 26 July and closed with its eighty-fifth episode on 18 October.

Irfan Aslam directed the serial for Gold Bridge Media and MD Productions from a script by Seema Sheikh, and the story it carries is of a daughter raised in unbroken indulgence who has never once been refused. The recording is scaled to that intimacy rather than to the drama's length: two minutes and thirty-seven seconds, one voice, with no second singer to answer it. Jahanzeb is among the few Pakistani pop vocalists with a formal classical training, and the long held notes here are where it shows.

Meaning & Translation

Yeh ishq is Urdu for this love, and in this song the phrase lands closer to an accusation than a declaration. The serial's own title sets it up: laadli is the cherished daughter, the girl who is indulged, protected and never told no. Zaheer Zarf's lyric asks what becomes of someone raised that way when love finally stops arriving on request, and it treats the answer as a reckoning rather than an ordinary heartbreak. Jahanzeb sings the two words in bewilderment more than complaint, which is what keeps a theme this short from tipping into self-pity.
