The Story Behind Meri Nanhi Pari OST

Meri Nanhi Pari OST is Waqar Ali's theme for ARY Digital's 2018 family drama, composed by Ali with lyrics by S.K. Khalish.

Written by Naila Ansari and directed by Ali Faizan, the serial follows Shiza, played by Ayesha Khan, as she tries to save her daughter Sehar, who has thalassaemia. Gohar Rasheed plays Khalid, whose broken promise complicates that struggle. The title places the child at the centre of a story about maternal devotion and a family's uncertain future.

ARY Digital HD published this 92-second lyrical upload on 27 February 2018, shortly after the drama's 5 February premiere. It is a compact presentation of the serial's theme, with Ali credited for both its sung voice and its composition, and Khalish supplying the words.

Meaning & Translation

The Urdu title Meri Nanhi Pari means "my little fairy". Meri expresses belonging, nanhi conveys smallness and tenderness, and pari is the image of a fairy. Together, the words form an affectionate name for a beloved daughter.

Read alongside the serial's mother-and-daughter story, that endearment carries a protective feeling: the child is precious, vulnerable and loved. The fairy image suggests how a parent sees a daughter through affection, while "little" keeps her need for care in view. This is a reading of the title in its dramatic context, where tenderness becomes especially poignant because the child's future is uncertain.
