The Story Behind Darr Khuda Say OST
Sahir Ali Bagga composed the soundtrack for Darr Khuda Say and sang it himself, and Har Pal Geo posted the full six minute cut rather than the trimmed title version most Pakistani serials open with. It went up on 15 June 2019, three days before the 7th Sky Entertainment production premiered on Geo Entertainment, where it ran until March 2020. Written by Sarwat Nazeer and directed by Anjum Shehzad, the drama put Sana Javed and Imran Abbas inside a marriage curdling into suspicion, and Shakil Sohail's lyric names the fear in the title outright. The soundtrack later earned a Best OST nomination at the 2021 IPPA Awards, alongside nods for both of its leads.
Meaning & Translation
Darr Khuda Say is Urdu for "fear God". In everyday speech it is less a devotional phrase than a rebuke, the thing you say to someone who has stopped fearing consequences, and the drama takes its title from exactly that use. The song carries the same charge. It belongs to a story about a marriage poisoned by suspicion and deceit, and it addresses the person doing the harm rather than the person suffering it: a reminder that what is done quietly, behind a closed door and away from witnesses, is not therefore unseen. That is the double edge of the phrase. It is a plea and an accusation at once, and Sahir Ali Bagga sings it as both.
