The Story Behind Dhoondta Hoon
Dhoondta Hoon is Ali Zafar's song of persistent longing from Roshni, released on 20 December 2025. Syed Omar Hussain wrote and composed the track, with music production shared by Zafar and Hussain. Amir Azhar plays guitar and bass, while Hassan Badshah supplies keys and synthesizer. Irshad Shaikh handled mixing and mastering.
The official description presents love as something that has become a memory, with the search continuing even when reunion seems impossible. The repeated title refrain keeps returning to that unfinished search, giving the words a circular shape while the narrator's life moves forward. Released as the eighth track on the twelve-song album, it places a private, unresolved attachment at the centre of an ensemble recording.
Meaning & Translation
Dhoondta Hoon means "I search" or "I am searching" in Urdu. The speaker is looking for affection that remains out of reach, returning to places and memories without finding the connection he wants. The repeated search suggests a thought he cannot put to rest.
Images of passing days, interrupted breath and tearful eyes hold emotional stillness against a life that continues moving. The beloved remains present in remembered conversations even as the relationship slips away. The refrain brings the speaker back to longing each time: he can keep living without having stopped looking.
