The Story Behind Shikwa OST
Shikwa is the title song for ARY Digital's 2025 drama of the same name, pairing Ahmed Jahanzeb with Natasha Baig in a dialogue of hurt and devotion. Rabi Roshan composed and programmed the track, while S.K Khan wrote its lyrics. The arrangement layers Asher Khalid's guitar, Amir Ahmed's bass, Zulqarnain Haider's flute, and tabla and dholak from Ashir SK and Kashif Perc. Mujahid Aslam Qawal Team adds backing vocals. That mix gives the duet an intimate pulse, then widens its emotional weight through flute and hand percussion. Written by Nadia Ahmed and directed by M. Danish Behlim, the serial stars Maria Malik and Sami Khan. The song frames its strained relationships through two voices carrying the same ache from different sides.
Meaning & Translation
Shikwa means a complaint or grievance in Urdu, and the song turns that idea into an address to a wounded heart. Its speaker asks why love and close bonds have brought betrayal, tears, separation and dreams that cannot be reached. Yet the feeling is not simple bitterness. The heart is urged to keep searching for a love capable of restoring color and happiness, even after accepting painful turns of fate. The duet lets that tension move between two perspectives: longing for someone who feels wholly one's own, while carrying the beloved's sorrow as a shared burden. In English, its central thought is that love can make pain feel personal, intimate and impossible to abandon.
