The Story Behind Soteli Maamta OST
Soteli Maamta is the title song for HUM TV's 2020 family drama of the same name, released by the channel one day before the serial premiered. Khurram Iqbal performs the OST, with music composed by EMU and lyrics by Sabir Zafar. The drama was written by Huma Hina Nafees, directed by Mir Sikander, and produced by Momina Duraid Productions. Its story sets two families on a collision course after an infant is taken from her birth mother and raised in another home, giving the title song a world shaped by contested motherhood, secrecy, and care. At 154 seconds, the recording has the compact scale of a television theme, with Iqbal's solo vocal carrying its emotional focus while the song establishes the serial's central conflict.
Meaning & Translation
Soteli maamta can be understood as a stepmother's maternal love. The phrase places two emotionally charged ideas side by side: soteli marks a relationship outside biological motherhood, while maamta conveys a mother's deep tenderness and protective care. In the drama's setting, that contrast asks whether motherhood belongs to the woman who gives birth, the woman who raises a child, or both. The song's title therefore carries the ache of a child caught between adults, but it also leaves room for care to be genuine even when the family bond is not formed by blood. Its meaning centers on belonging, sacrifice, and the difficult claim of maternal love.
