The Story Behind Suno Roshni Kya Kehti Hai OST
Suno Roshni Kya Kehti Hai is the original soundtrack for Har Pal Geo's 2025 short film about a father who works for his children's future while they experience his absence as neglect. Hasan Sikander sings the song, and Nadir Shahzad wrote its lyrics and music. The film was presented with UNICEF, made in association with White Rice, and produced by Hot Water Bottle Films. Mohib Mirza appears in the cast. Har Pal Geo describes the song as expressing lost dreams and unfulfilled desires, which fits a story where love and sacrifice are difficult for a child to see. Shahzad has described writing it with a restrained, intimate approach, letting the silence between father and son shape the chorus. The result is a title theme that stays close to the film's central question: how do they hear each other again?
Meaning & Translation
The Urdu title can be read as "Listen to what the light says." Roshni means light, making the phrase an invitation to pay attention before silence grows permanent. In the song, unfinished conversations stand for the distance between a father and son. The recurring challenge is less an accusation than a plea: how long can they keep fighting their circumstances and avoiding what needs to be said? Its sadness comes from two people who care for each other yet cannot easily show it. The film gives that idea a practical edge, since the father's effort to provide also keeps him away from the child who needs him.
