The Story Behind Youn Hi

Youn Hi brought Towers and Hadia Hashmi together for the second release in Nescafé Basement Season 6 in January 2025. Towers wrote the lyrics and co-composed the song with Talal Qureshi, who also produced and mixed the recording. The season's official credits place its audio production with Khana Badosh Entertainment.

The collaboration frames Hadia's clear vocal presence and Towers' writing in contemporary pop with electronic color. Their alternating passages let two romantic perspectives meet over a polished, gently propulsive arrangement. Flowers, rain, sunlight and spring air recur throughout the song, while references to Mall Road and Anarkali give its daydream a distinctly Lahori setting. The result is a youthful love song whose sweetness is balanced by the restless feeling of being unable to pass a day without someone.

Meaning & Translation

"Youn hi" is an Urdu phrase meaning "just like that," "simply," or "without a particular reason." In the song, it suggests that love can unfold as naturally as flowers opening. The beloved is imagined through fragrance, sunlight, rain and a spring breeze, so ordinary sensations become signs of attraction.

That lightness is paired with longing. The singers describe thoughts that keep circling back to one person and days that feel difficult to pass in their absence. Lahore's Mall Road and Anarkali turn the romance into a shared walk through a recognizable city rather than an abstract fantasy. Overall, the song captures infatuation as spontaneous, sensory and quietly overwhelming.
