The Story Behind Zindaan OST
Zindaan OST is the title song for ARY Digital's 2017 serial Zindaan, a domestic love triangle shaped by a childhood engagement. Jinaan Hussain performs the track, while Amir Qureshi composed it and wrote its lyrics. The drama, written by Samina Ejaz and directed by Syed Atif Hussain, follows Asad as his promised match with Farah collides with his feelings for Lubna. That conflict gives the song its governing image: affection turned into confinement. In a compact recording of just over three minutes, Hussain's lead vocal carries the tension between longing and entrapment, while the title ties the music directly to the family's tightening emotional trap. ARY Digital released the soundtrack in March 2017 as a musical introduction to the serial's central struggle.
Meaning & Translation
Zindaan is an Urdu word for a prison or place of confinement. Here it works as an emotional metaphor: love and family promises that should offer belonging instead feel like walls closing around the heart. The title connects directly to the drama's triangle, where Asad's childhood engagement to Farah, his feelings for Lubna, and Farah's refusal to let go turn affection into obligation. The song's meaning is therefore less about a literal jail than about being trapped by loyalty, jealousy, and decisions made by other people. Its central emotion is the ache of wanting freedom while remaining bound to the relationships and promises that caused the pain.
