About Aagosh
A mother loses all five of her sons to the cruelty inside her own home. Domestic turmoil and open discrimination break her mind before they break the family apart, and once she is institutionalized her children scatter into separate lives, far from her and from each other. Years later a compassionate man who had loved her long ago brings her into his home, becomes her caretaker, and quietly sets about finding the grown men her sons have become. Aaghosh is PTV storytelling at its most unhurried and most devastating, a 1993 serial written by Adeem Hashmi and produced by Syed Shakir Aziz, led by Shaista Jabeen with Rehan Sheikh, Nuzhat Kazmi, Nusrat Mehmood and Safia Haider. It is a story about separation, about trauma that outlives the people who caused it, and about a maternal love that nobody thought to protect.
