Danish Taimoor makes Jaan-e-Alam chilling because the menace arrives wrapped in polished confidence, while Sanam Chaudhry gives Maryam's resistance real nerve and vulnerability. We were hooked by the show's refusal to soften its abuse-of-power theme. Our one gripe? The script sometimes pushes its moral reckoning so hard that nuance gives way to blunt punishment. Even so, the lead performances keep the drama gripping. This is grim social melodrama with teeth.
