About Silsilay (Telefilm)
Silsilay follows sisters Hira (Hiba Bukhari) and Abeeha (Momal Sheikh), raised by their mother after their father abandons the family. Living under the same roof as relatives who never let them forget that absence, both women reach for love while carrying the weight of other people's judgments. Abeeha quietly adores her childhood friend and neighbour Shahzaib (Muneeb Butt), even as his attention drifts elsewhere. Hira, more impulsive and openly romantic, pins her hopes on her cousin Jawad (Junaid Khan), a reserved doctor returning from abroad with no idea how deeply she feels. Writer Samra Bukhari threads these parallel romances through a busy household where affection, class and the stigma around parental separation shape every choice. Directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain, the drama turns familiar romantic complications into a warm family story about two sisters trying to claim dignity and a future on their own terms.
Editor’s Take
What keeps Silsilay humming is the contrast between Hiba Bukhari's restless Hira and Momal Sheikh's tender, self-contained Abeeha. Their sisterly bond gives the romantic maze a pulse, while the ensemble makes the household feel genuinely lived-in. Our one gripe? The love triangles travel familiar roads and sometimes take the scenic route. Still, the show's simple, emotionally legible storytelling is its charm. Come for the pairings, stay for the sisters refusing to be defined by a broken home.
