About Baandi

Set against rural Sindh, Baandi follows Meeru (Aiman Khan), the daughter of a debt-bound farm worker whose family has served a feudal household for generations. When the predatory landlord Tahawaar (Yasir Hussain) marks her as his next victim, her parents make a desperate choice: send her away as a maid in a wealthy home. That apparent refuge belongs to Faiza Begum (Hina Dilpazeer), a revered spiritual figure whose polished public virtue conceals a household built on class prejudice and silence. Faiza's son Wali (Muneeb Butt), preparing for civil service and increasingly disturbed by the cruelty around him, begins to question the rules that keep Meeru powerless. Alongside their collision, Baandi traces the suffering of Rameen (Hajra Yamin), trapped in an abusive marriage arranged for business. Written by Asma Nabeel, this 33-episode social drama turns bonded labor, domestic exploitation and inherited privilege into an urgent story about dignity, conscience and the courage to resist.

Editor’s Take

Baandi is at its sharpest when Yasir Hussain's Tahawaar and Hina Dilpazeer's Faiza weaponize different kinds of power: one openly brutal, the other wrapped in respectability. The opening chapter's lean editing lets every reveal land, and its Sindh setting gives the social argument real texture. Our one gripe? Aiman Khan initially feels less commanding than the formidable ensemble around her. Even so, Asma Nabeel's refusal to prettify exploitation gives this drama a fierce moral pulse.
