About Daadi Ka Daamad
When Zaviyar returns home to Pakistan to be near his ailing grandmother, he arrives only to lose her, and her final wish lands squarely on his shoulders: she wants him to become her daamad, her son-in-law. Baffled at first, Zaviyar uncovers the story of his grandmother's long-estranged brother and sets out to reunite the two halves of a family that drifted apart years ago. As the households come back together, he finds himself falling for his spirited cousin Anaya, and decides that marrying her is how he will honour his daadi's dying request. There is just one problem: Anaya lives strictly on her own terms and sees no reason to be bound by a promise she never made. Written by Samira Fazal and directed by Saima Waseem for Geo Entertainment, Daadi Ka Daamad is a warm Eid romantic comedy about family, second chances, and a love that refuses to be arranged.
Editor’s Take
As Eid telefilms go, this one is easy, pleasant company. The real surprise is Affan Waheed's hero, a refreshingly decent sort who actually listens to Madiha Imam's headstrong Anaya and waits for her yes rather than steamrolling toward it, and the two share a light, likeable chemistry. Our gripe? The setup is more fun than the payoff, and the ending wraps up a touch too neatly and quickly. Breezy, good-natured holiday viewing.
