About Doctor Bahu

Doctor Bahu enters a prestigious household where medicine is both a badge of honor and a tool of control. Dr Sania (Kubra Khan) is ambitious, outspoken and determined to build a real career, while Salman, also called Sunny (Shuja Asad), is the family's youngest son and its conspicuous non-doctor. Their marriage looks progressive from the outside, but Sania soon discovers that the family's accomplished daughters-in-law are expected to leave their professional lives at the door. As she pushes against those rules, long-buried tensions surface around work, marriage, duty and the quiet authority of patriarch Dr Shahnawaz (Shahzad Nawaz). Written by Sanam Mehdi Zaryab and directed by Mehreen Jabbar, the serial turns a familiar domestic setup into a sharp study of respectability and control. Its appeal lies in watching Sania and Salman negotiate affection and independence inside a home where every polite conversation carries an unspoken demand.

Mehreen Jabbar lets glances, silences and lived-in rooms do the shouting, and Kubra Khan meets that restraint with a beautifully controlled performance. Shuja Asad gives the romance a hesitant warmth, while Shahzad Nawaz makes family authority feel chillingly ordinary. Our one gripe? The deliberate pace sometimes asks for more patience than its simmering tensions repay. Still, we would take this textured domestic unease over manufactured fireworks any night. A slow burn with a pulse.
