About Ek Jhooti Love Story

Set among two closely connected middle-class families in Karachi, Ek Jhooti Love Story follows Salma (Madiha Imam) and Sohail (Bilal Abbas Khan), neighbours who are both tired of the ordinary lives in front of them. Each dreams of a polished, prosperous partner, and each builds a fake online identity to attract that fantasy. Salma becomes the glamorous Natalia; Sohail presents himself as the wealthy Nofil. Their invented selves find each other, even as the real Salma and Sohail keep colliding under the watchful eyes of families consumed by marriage proposals, status and respectability.

Umera Ahmed's script turns a catfishing romance into a warm, sharp portrait of aspiration. Salma's sisters and the households around the leads have desires of their own, giving Mehreen Jabbar's ensemble comedy a lively social world. Beneath the misunderstandings sits an inviting question: can two people recognize something genuine when both began by pretending to be someone else?
