About Gentleman

In Karachi's Korangi underworld, territory is currency and loyalty can turn deadly overnight. Iqbal Munna (Humayun Saeed), a seasoned street gangster with an unexpected moral streak, serves the formidable Rehmati (Adnan Siddiqui) while trying to hold his corner of the city together. His carefully ordered world shifts when he encounters Zarnab (Yumna Zaidi), a fearless journalist who publicly challenges gangsters and the powerful institutions that enable them. Their clash draws Munna toward a reckoning with the life he knows, even as Zarnab's relationship with assistant commissioner Faris (Zahid Ahmed) exposes another tangle of ambition, corruption and divided loyalties. Directed with cinematic scale by Haissam Hussain, Gentleman folds romance, suspense and flashes of humour into a gritty power struggle. Its real hook is the collision between Zarnab's fierce idealism and Munna's rough-edged code of honour, with each forcing the other to question who the city's true criminals really are.

Haissam Hussain gives Korangi's underworld a swaggering, cinematic pulse, but Humayun Saeed's magnetic Munna and Yumna Zaidi's firebrand Zarnab keep the spectacle human. Their clashes crackle, while Adnan Siddiqui brings silken menace to Rehmati. Our one gripe? The sermonising monologues occasionally stall the suspense, and the gangster setup promises more action than it delivers. Still, we stayed for the sharp power games, bruised romance and a hero whose conscience is his most dangerous weapon.
