About Ghairat

Saba (Iqra Aziz) grew up inside the quiet rules of a conservative household, the kind where a girl's choices are everyone's business and her silence is called respect. Then her sister decides to live life on her own terms, and their brother Usman (Syed Jibran) answers that decision with acid and fire in the name of honour. Ghairat begins where most stories about honour killing end: with the ashes, the screaming, and a mother and daughter left carrying a grief nobody on their street will name out loud. As Saba pushes for justice and finds support in Zohaib (Muneeb Butt), the family that closed ranks around the killer starts to crack. Written by Edison Idrees and directed by Ahmed Bhatti for ARY Digital, this is a hard, deliberately uncomfortable look at what the word honour actually costs the women it claims to protect.

Editor’s Take

Iqra Aziz is the reason this one lands. She plays Saba as a sheltered girl discovering in real time that the people she has to fight are the ones she loves, and her scenes with Muneeb Butt are the only place the show lets anybody breathe. Our gripe? The middle stretch stalls, leaning on flashbacks we've already sat through and subplots that circle instead of move. Hard to watch, and harder to argue with.
