About Ghalati

Zaira (Hira Mani) and Saad (Affan Waheed) enter marriage with affection, but their home is already crowded by pride, money and a mother determined to keep control. Zaira is educated and strong-willed, qualities that unsettle Saad's mother, Zaitoon (Saba Hameed), who repeatedly turns ordinary disagreements into tests of loyalty. When Zaira's father suffers business losses and can no longer carry the financial expectations placed on him, tensions inside the household harden. Saad's quick temper and reckless threats of divorce push the couple toward consequences neither is prepared to face.

Written by Asma Sayani and directed by Saba Hameed, Ghalati treats a volatile marriage as more than melodrama. Around Zaira and Saad, figures such as the candid Shanzay (Mehar Bano) expose the excuses that let anger, greed and family pressure masquerade as tradition. It is an intimate social drama about the damage words can do, and the courage required to reclaim one's agency.

Editor’s Take

Ghalati is strongest when Mehar Bano's clear-eyed Shanzay cuts through the family's excuses, a supporting character with more moral force than most leads get. We also admire Saba Hameed's focused direction and the drama's insistence that divorce is not a woman's full stop. Our one gripe? Saad's repeated threats can make the central conflict feel circular. Even so, this is issue-led television with bite, clarity, and a welcome belief in second chances.
