About Hashtag

Xara and Rasha (Sabeena Farooq and Maha Hasan) are close friends whose lives are built for the feed: parties, followers and the carefully staged glow of influencer culture. At an exclusive night hosted by DJ Rocky, Xara embraces the spectacle while Rasha cannot shake the feeling that something is wrong. Before the party ends, both women vanish. Their disappearance pulls Nick and Imaad (Usama Khan and Ali Ansari) into a tense search through curated personas, private resentments and secrets hiding just beyond the camera frame.

Written by Shah Yasir and directed by Mehreen Jabbar, Hashtag turns the glossy machinery of social media into the setting for a compact mystery thriller. Its four-episode format keeps the investigation moving, while the friendship at its centre gives the commentary on online fame a human stake. Sleek, youthful and uneasy, the series asks what remains when a digital identity becomes more convincing than the person behind it, and how quickly the hunger for attention can distort loyalty, fear and truth.

Editor’s Take

Mehreen Jabbar gives Hashtag a sleek, unsettled pulse, using fractured timelines and influencer gloss to make every ring light feel slightly menacing. We loved how Sabeena Farooq, Maha Hasan, Usama Khan and Ali Ansari step outside their familiar screen personas, while Shah Yasir's social media critique keeps the mystery rooted in something recognisable. Our one gripe? The culprit may click into focus too early. Still, four tight episodes make this a sharp, bingeable scroll through online fame's ugliest corners.
