About Ishq Murshid

Shahmeer Sikandar (Bilal Abbas Khan) is the kind of leading man drama fans dream about: poised, devastatingly charming, and freshly home from the UK with the confidence of a man who has never lost. Shibra Suleman (Durefishan Saleem) is his perfect opposite, a sharp, principled middle-class girl with no patience for privilege and even less for the corrupt politics that surround his powerful family. When Shahmeer falls, he falls completely, launching a tender, stubborn, gloriously one-sided pursuit of a woman who refuses to be dazzled. What unfolds is part swoony romance and part clash of values, as old money and old-fashioned integrity circle each other across a backdrop of feudal power and political games. Wrapped in Ahmed Jahanzeb's chart-topping title track and a great deal of melt-in-your-seat tension, this is comfort-watch romance done with real polish and a leading pair worth rooting for.

Bilal Abbas Khan is the whole event here. His Shahmeer is so effortlessly swoony that he practically reset the national bar for the romantic hero, and Ahmed Jahanzeb's title track does the rest, wrapping every scene in pure serotonin. So why only mostly great? Because the writing keeps wandering off into preachy political lectures and choppy, continuity-light detours that the central romance has to keep rescuing. Gorgeous, hummable, a little hollow. Watch it for him.
