About Ishqiya

Hamza (Feroze Khan) and Hamna (Ramsha Khan) are college sweethearts who plan to marry, until family pressure pushes Hamna into a wealthier match with Azeem (Gohar Rasheed), and she walks away without ever telling Hamza why. The betrayal hollows Hamza out and twists his love into something darker. Determined to make Hamna watch, he turns up at her family's door and asks for the hand of her gentle, unsuspecting younger sister, Rumi (Hania Aamir). Rumi marries him for love, with no idea she is a pawn in someone else's revenge, and the deeper she falls, the crueler the trap becomes. Written by Mohsin Ali Shah for ARY Digital, Ishqiya is a charged melodrama about love soured into vengeance, the innocents caught in its blast radius, and the hard truth that wanting to punish the person who broke you can end up breaking everyone around you.

Editor’s Take

Feroze Khan is built for this kind of simmering, wounded villainy, and Hania Aamir makes Rumi's slow heartbreak ache, so it is a shame the script keeps letting them down. The revenge plot is full of holes and absolutely addicted to flashbacks, replaying the same betrayal until you could recite it. What saves it is a finale with a spine: it refuses to romanticize Hamza's cruelty and makes him answer for it. The cast deserved a sharper story, but the comeuppance is worth the wait.
