About Jama Taqseem

Jama Taqseem follows Laila (Mawra Hocane), an educated, self-assured woman raised in a progressive, affluent home, and Qais (Talha Chahour), her former classmate from a loving but deeply traditional joint family. Their decision to marry looks simple on paper, yet it brings two sharply different ideas of home, duty, privacy, and partnership under one roof. Once Laila enters Qais's crowded household, everyday expectations begin to tighten around her: domestic labor is treated as a test of character, personal boundaries become family business, and Qais is pulled between loyalty to his wife and habits he has never questioned. Written by Sarwat Nazir, the serial turns familiar desi family rituals into a tense examination of how affection can coexist with control. An accomplished ensemble, including Javed Sheikh, Beo Raana Zafar, Tazeen Hussain, and Deepak Perwani, gives the household a lived-in texture. It is a socially alert domestic drama built on recognizable pressures rather than easy villains.

Editor’s Take

Mawra Hocane gives Laila a steely calm that makes every small invasion of privacy sting, while Talha Chahour keeps Qais frustratingly human rather than turning him into a cardboard villain. We admire how Sarwat Nazir and director Ali Hassan let ordinary household rituals reveal the real power struggle. Our one gripe? The later storytelling piles on complications and blurs some of its earlier clarity. Even so, this is sharp, uncomfortable television that knows exactly where the family pressure points are.
