About Kaffara

Sitara (Laiba Khan) is an orphan who has learned to stay sunny in a house that has no real place for her, kept on by an aunt who tolerates her only for the property share she carries. Salar (Ali Ansari) is the opposite kind of misfit: the pure-hearted, camera-loving son of a wealthy family, forever dodging the responsibilities everyone keeps trying to hand him. When their worlds cross at a family wedding, Salar is moved by how unfairly Sitara is treated, but his habit of looking away when things get hard soon leaves her exposed to a cruel conspiracy and her own family's suspicion. Written by Shafia Khan and directed by Muhammad Iftikhar Iffi for Har Pal Geo, Kaffara, meaning atonement, is a long-form story about guilt and redemption, and about the price a good but weak man pays for every moment he chose the easy way out.
